I will collect your briefs right off the bat, and I will have you give the other copy to your competition. For the remainded of the period you will be working on your rebuttal and other items. I saw several groups working well yesterday, and I saw several groups who were doing very little. I am an elephant, I remember everthing, so stay on task.
Homework--Have everything typed up and ready to go for your debate.

Two pronged attack today. We will go over vocab lessons 13 and 14, and I will go over terms in lesson 15. Students will have some time to work on 15 in class. The rest they will have to finish for homework. We will also take a quick look at the battle of Chickamauga in preparation for reading a short story by Amrose Bierce of the same name.
I am going to change to weighted grades for the second semester. Several teachers are doing this. Please be advised.
Homework--Finish vocab 15 and study for your vocab quiz. Study your Cornell Notes for your quiz. Finish reading Chickmauga (you will be asked questions over this story, so be prepared).

First I will discuss our final culminating activity...the zip lock bag project. This should be fairly easy and fun. Then students will be reading their self-selected novels while I conference with them about the results from the Nelson Denny test. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised. Everyone improved--some significantly.
Homework--Read for 1/2 hour and write it down on your reading slips. Pull your zip lock bag project together.

Since we lost Monday, I am not going to do anything this week so that you have time to work in your groups. Today you will be working to get your briefs ready for your debate on your exam period. Tomorrow will be your last day in class to work on this. Several did not hand in notecards. Unless you were absent you are giving up easy points.
Homework--Work on getting your information ready for your group. Your brief is due to the other group tomorrow! Please be ready with this. I will need a copy too. We need the brief to be done so that tomorrow we can work on the cross examination and rebuttal. You will have to complete your summary after tomorrow's class on your own time.

The plan for today is to first pass back the Cornell notes and show students how to study them. There will be a quiz over this material on your exam day. Next we will discuss "A Mystery of Heroism." After this I will go over our next batch of vocab terms, and students can work on their vocab lesson.
Homework--Finish vocab. It will be due at the start of the period tomorrow.

First, I will collect your reading slips and pass out your final slip for next week. Then we will read our self-selected books. After five minutes, I will get Adam and Steven going on the Nelson-Denny make-ups. Everyone else will be reading for participation points. I won't get to conferences until Monday because of the delay.
Monday I will talk about our final culminating activity. Since we have so little time, this project will be decidedly low-tech.
Homework--Read for 1/2 hour and write down your minutes on your reading slips.

Two Hour Delay--I am a little surprised.
Anyway, today is our final day of in-class research. I would like for you to turn in your notecards at the end of the period for points. You need to have at least 15 notecards each. Do not turn in your bib cards. I have already seen them. Many of you will begin you group debate work today, and that is great. You will have Monday and Tuesday to write things up in class, and then I see Wednesday as a day to practice your debate.
Homework--Do any research that you didn't get to this week. Also, be prepared we could lose Monday to snow and we (and I mean you here) need to be ready to roll with this.
By the way, I really like what I am seeing in class. You guys are into it, and I am excited to see your final project!
