Welcome! Minimize

Welcome to 9th Grade English with Mrs. Newlove and Mr. Spallino. We have a lot planned for the year, and look forward to helping you through your first year in high school. As English 9 students, you will complete several writing assignments including essays, narratives, letters, poetry, and literature responses.  Most writing assignments will be graded with rubrics you will receive when the assignment is given. The rubrics will help you understand what is expected of you in the assignment and how it will be graded.

We will have a vocabulary lesson once a week during which we will work in our vocabulary workbooks. You are responsible for your English notebook and journal, and for making up any missed assignments. You can keep track of them using the Pinnacle Internet Viewer. It is very important that you complete all assignments and turn them in on time.  Late assignments will be worth half-credit.

As high school students we expect that you will take responsibility for yourself and your actions and as a result, follow all rules and put forth your best effort in this class.  We respect you as students and as young adults and in return we expect you to have respect for us as your teachers and for your fellow classmates.   If you follow the rules and expectations of this class, we will have a wonderful year together.
