Welcome Parents and Students
This page is to inform you about class work, and any events that might be of interest to you and our students.
Business Technology Education is a broad, comprehensive curriculum at the high school level that provides students with meaningful instruction for and about business. Instruction in Business Technology Education encompasses business and accounting skills and techniques, an understanding of basic finances, and business attitudes essential to participate in the multinational market place as productive workers and consumers.
One important fact is that most of our courses will not have work outside of the classroom. We do the work together, and when there is a research project or group work, we allow time for those assignments in the daily planning time. It is important that the students learn how to use and apply the applications to their other classes and possibly, jobs.
In Criminal and Civil Law class work is usually done during class time; outside work would occur when the student has been absent. We try to visit The Municipal Court, The Sheriff's Department and/or The Juvenile Justice Center, spending the day at these two facilities and watching the law at work. This usually happens anytime after the 9th week of the semester.
The Practical Money Skills class will assist students with knowledge of how and when to use money wisely.
The Success to Careers class will assist students with study skills, interpersonal skills, and career choices.
Success to Careers: We have had members of the community visit our class room and discuss Interviewing skills. Various universities and career centers speak to our classes on different topics. Students conduct an interview during their Shadow Day, which occurred on November 23, 2010. This is an excellent learning event for the students. They observe the jobs that they are contemplating for their future in action. We thank the participants for allowing the students over the past five years to be included in their busy work days.
